The Martell House was founded by Jean Martell in 1715, after he left his hometown, Jersey, to settle in France with the goal of perfecting the art of producing Cognac, with the motto "I only want the best, without artifices." After his death in 1753, his legacy grew under the management of his wife Rachel Martell. Four curiosities: it is the only one exported to England during the Continental Blockade (1807-1808), it was served during the coronation ceremony of King George V of England in 1911, and during a Gala Dinner to celebrate the marriage of Prince Rainier of Monaco to Grace Kelly. In 1977, passengers on the connecting flight between Paris and New York, made by the legendary Concorde, were able to enjoy a Martell Cordon Bleu, which was also served in 1986 on the legendary Orient Express, which connects Venice and Copenhagen. In 2005, the brand launched Martell XO, which quickly became a classic and an icon of this House. The 300-year legacy of know-how and passion is celebrated with the cognac L'Or de Jean Martell.
