Le Krohn 10 Ans est produit à partir d'une sélection de vins de Porto provenant des meilleurs vignobles de la vallée du Douro. Les vins sont vieillis en fûts de bois d'une capacité d'environ 630 litres, pendant une moyenne de 10 ans. Ces fûts de bois contiennent un volume de vin plus réduit. De cette manière, le contact du vin avec le bois est proportionnellement plus important. Au fur et à mesure que le vin vieillit dans le fût, il perd progressivement la profonde couleur rouge "rubis" de sa jeunesse et commence à acquérir la charmante teinte ambrée, connue en anglais sous le nom de "tawny". En même temps, le vin devient progressivement plus doux et plus velouté, et ses arômes acquièrent richesse et complexité.
