Lo Chateau Petrus del 2001 mostra più profondità e ricchezza di qualsiasi altro Pomerol. Il suo colore rubino/prugna/viola profondo e saturo è accompagnato da un bouquet stretto ma promettente di vaniglia, liquore alla ciliegia, liquirizia fusa, ribes nero e sentori di tartufo e terra. Ricco, corposo e sorprendentemente denso, oltre che intenso, c'è molta struttura alla base della ricchezza di frutta ed estratto. Dategli 3-6 anni in cantina e bevetelo nei prossimi due decenni, poiché promette di essere uno dei vini dalla vendemmia più lunga, per non parlare di uno dei più concentrati.
