La Casa Martell fue fundada por Jean Martell en 1715, después de que este dejara su ciudad natal, Jersey, para establecerse en Francia con el objetivo de perfeccionar el arte de producir Cognac, teniendo como lema "Solo quiero lo mejor, sin artificios". Tras su muerte, en 1753, su legado crece bajo la gestión de su esposa Rachel Martell. Cuatro curiosidades: es el único que se exportó a Inglaterra durante el Bloqueo Continental (1807-1808), se sirvió durante la ceremonia de coronación del Rey Jorge V de Inglaterra, en 1911, y durante una Cena de Gala para celebrar el matrimonio del Príncipe Rainiero de Mónaco con Grace Kelly. En 1977, los pasajeros del vuelo de enlace entre París y Nueva York, realizado por el legendario Concorde, pudieron disfrutar de un Martell Cordon Bleu, que también se sirvió en 1986 en el legendario Expreso de Oriente, que conecta Venecia y Copenhague. En 2005, la marca lanza el Martell XO que rápidamente se convierte en un clásico y un ícono de esta Casa. El legado de 300 años de saber hacer y pasión se celebra con el cognac L'Or de Jean Martell.
