The Nacional plot is a small area with own-rooted vines, in the heart of the Quinta do Noval vineyard, untouched by phylloxera. The word "Nacional" refers to the fact that these vines are Portuguese vines growing in Portuguese soil, without American rootstock, and therefore directly "rooted in the soil of the nation." This great wine is a source of pride for all Portuguese people and, when at its best, is the highest expression of the extraordinary terroir of Quinta do Noval. The Vintage Nacional is a unique and extraordinary phenomenon. It does not necessarily follow the same rhythm as the rest of Quinta do Noval. There are years when a Nacional is produced without Noval declaring the Quinta do Noval Vintage. In other years, Quinta do Noval declares a great Vintage but does not declare the Nacional. Often, we have the possibility to produce both: a Quinta do Noval Vintage and a Nacional Vintage. But when that happens, the wines are always completely distinct. The Nacional plot is planted with a mix of the noble grape varieties of the Douro, predominantly Touriga Francesa; Red Cão; Touriga Nacional; Sousão and Tinta Roriz.

The palate bursts with super-concentrated, dense, and pure blackberry fruit. Its incredible intensity, tannic expression, and depth are remarkable.
Reveals beautiful aromas, such as sweet black fruit, along with bold earthy, salty, and spicy notes. It is fresh and vibrant, with a hint of mint and licorice.
