The Château Angélus 1994, a Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, is a mature and impressive expression of this great Bordeaux soil. With still deep color and purple-black hues, it reveals on the nose intense aromas of smoked meats, barbecue-style spices, and notes of blackcurrant and concentrated cherry brandy. On the palate, the fruity density contrasts with a salty mineral quality and velvety tannins, only slightly rustic in texture, with a finish shorter than expected for a wine of this rank, yet still elegant and balanced. According to Robert Parker, this vintage is a true “tour de force” in winemaking, standing out for its purity, intensity, and consistency.
