In 2019, precipitation was not just low in the winter months, but extended throughout the year. However, the Douro and, in the case of Niepoort, the Cima Corgo sub-region, were lucky due to two offsetting factors: firstly, the summer months were unusually cool and secondly, the timely rainfall in the August 26th and 27th, plus some very limited rain in the third week of September, proved invaluable. As a result, the analysis of the musts was very balanced, with high levels of acidity, providing freshness and magnificent elegance. At the Vale de Mendiz winery, the harvest began on September 2nd under favorable conditions and the last grapes were received in the first week of October. The LBV is bottled in its fourth year, maintaining Niepoort's tradition of prioritizing freshness as much as possible in its wines.
Color is concentrated with a ruby hue and violet hints
In the mouth it is structured, firm and with an acidity that sets it apart from other wines. Starts sweet and ends almost dry, long, fresh and spicy
notes of dark chocolate complemented by aromas of wild berries, fresh figs, violet and spices
