Bien que faisant partie du Douro Superior, Mêda a son propre caractère. Région entre le Dão et le Douro, ayant des caractéristiques des deux. Un sol de transition schiste/granite dans une zone d'altitude pouvant atteindre 700m. Avec un climat où il pleut plus qu'en général dans le Douro Superior et les températures sont plus douces en été et plus froides en hiver. Vinification classique. Fermentation en cuve avec macération ultérieure de 20 jours. Deux ans de vieillissement en fûts de chêne français. Suivi de 15 ans de maturation en cuve. 7500 bouteilles ont été produites.
