Fernão Favila Vieira wurde 1930 in Funchal geboren und absolvierte die Rechtswissenschaftliche Fakultät der Universität Lissabon. Als Berufsdiplomat war er an verschiedenen Orten der Welt tätig und wurde im Rahmen seiner Tätigkeit zum Kommandeur des Ordens des Infanten Dom Henrique ausgezeichnet. Im Laufe seines Lebens widmete er sich auch literarischen, journalistischen und politischen Aktivitäten. In Ausübung seines Berufs war Fernão Favila Vieira auch ein privilegierter Botschafter des Madeira-Weins, den er bei den unterschiedlichsten Gelegenheiten stets zu servieren und anzubieten wusste. Für diese Ehrung habe ich aus meinen Favoriten die besten Weine der Rebsorte Boal ausgewählt, die in unseren Lagern über die letzten 40 Jahre nach der traditionellen Canteiro-Methode gereift sind, denen ich noch viel ältere hinzugefügt habe. Im Juli 2018 wurden 739 Einheiten abgefüllt, einzeln nummeriert.
