Nikka The Grain è composto da antichi grani di Coffey e malti Coffey della distilleria Nishinomiya, ora chiusa, così come grani Coffey e malti Coffey di Miyagikyo. I tocchi finali sono aggiunti dal Barley Grain (orzo maltato e non maltato) e Barley Grain and Corn & Rye, tutti distillati in alambicchi di rame nelle distillerie Moji e Satsumatsukasa, che si sono originariamente specializzate nella produzione di Shochu. Ogni distillato è stato accuratamente selezionato da questi quattro luoghi. Imbottigliato con un contenuto alcolico del 48%, Nikka The Grain rivela una consistenza cremosa e un palato complesso di aromi complementari.

Sapore ricco e allo stesso tempo snello. Si percepiscono sapori di latte di mandorla, cocco, vaniglia e liquirizia. Il finale è delicatamente speziato rivelando sapori di cannella e zenzero.
Fresco e complesso. All'inizio si percepisce l'aroma di cera d'api intrecciato dolcemente con piante aromatiche (verbena, camomilla) e frutti freschi (ananas, prugna Mirabelle). Poi l'aroma si estende verso la vaniglia, leggermente tostata, e una nota di cereali più intensa.
