Founded in 1798 by Claude Jacquesson, the house can proudly claim to have been one of the favorite champagnes of Napoleon I. Adolphe Jacquesson was responsible for the important invention of the wire to replace the string and the metal plate to prevent the wire from sinking into the cork. With the purchase of Jacquesson in 1974 by Jean Chiquet, a winemaker and broker, the company has remained in the family.
