Il Croft LBV è stato sviluppato per rispondere alla domanda di un prodotto di qualità superiore ma che permettesse il suo consumo immediato e quotidiano, in alternativa alla gamma di vini Porto Vintage. A differenza di un tipico Porto Vintage, che viene imbottigliato solo due anni dopo il suo affinamento in legno e che completa il suo invecchiamento in bottiglia, questo LBV viene imbottigliato dopo quattro-sei anni di affinamento e può essere consumato al momento dell'imbottigliamento.
