Il Vinha do Lado deve il suo nome al fatto di trovarsi in una piccola parcella di vigneto accanto alla Adega Vila Santa a Estremoz. Questa è una parcella di 1,5ha di Tinta Caiada, piantata su un pendio esposto a sud con suolo di origine scistosa. La vendemmia è fatta manualmente in cassette da 15 kg. Le uve sono diraspate e accuratamente selezionate al tavolo di scelta manuale. Dopo la pigiatura, sono pigiate in tini di marmo con la tradizionale pigiatura a piedi. Trasferimento in vasca di acciaio inox dove termina la fermentazione alcolica. Seguono 12 giorni di macerazione post-fermentativa. Successivamente invecchiano in mezze botti da 300 litri di rovere francese e ungherese di 1° e 2° anno, per un periodo di 12 mesi.
