La storia inizia nel 1870. Durante la guerra, Joseph Graser fuggì dai tedeschi e lasciò l'Alsazia, la sua regione natale, per andare a piedi a Epernay, nella Champagne. Morì improvvisamente per strada, a 44 anni. Suo figlio, Armand-Raphaël, dovette assumere la direzione dell'azienda e creare un'agenzia di intermediazione di vini. Nel 1920, Armand-Raphaël espande questa attività e inizia a produrre lo champagne Graser, che rapidamente viene chiamato "AR Lenoble". "AR" per le sue iniziali e "Lenoble" in onore della nobiltà dei vini di Champagne.
