Le uve provenienti dai migliori appezzamenti della Quinta da Mata Fidalga, dopo essere state sottoposte a un rigoroso controllo di produzione, sono state vendemmiate manualmente in piccole cassette da 18 kg di capacità. In cantina, sono state diraspate e pigiate e sottoposte a una macerazione pre-fermentativa a freddo per 72 ore. Successivamente è iniziata la fermentazione alcolica a temperatura controllata, durata 8 giorni, seguita da una macerazione post-fermentativa di altri 2 giorni. Dopo la fermentazione malolattica, ha affinato in botti da 350 L di rovere francese per 20 mesi.

Al palato è strutturato, voluminoso e con buon equilibrio gustativo, i tannini sono morbidi. L'acidità è molto moderata e ha una buona persistenza gustativa.
Aroma complesso, dominato da note di frutti neri, spezie, tabacco, vaniglia e cocco, questi ultimi provenienti dall'eccellente legno in cui ha affinato.
