Fernão Favila Vieira è nato nel 1930 a Funchal e si è laureato presso la Facoltà di Giurisprudenza dell'Università di Lisbona. Diplomatico di professione, ha svolto incarichi in vari punti del mondo ed è stato decorato come commendatore dell'Ordine dell'Infante Dom Henrique nell'ambito delle sue funzioni. Nel corso della sua vita, si è dedicato anche ad attività letterarie, giornalistiche e politiche. Nell'esercizio della sua professione, Fernão Favila Vieira è stato anche un ambasciatore privilegiato del Vino di Madeira, non smettendo mai di servirlo e offrirlo nelle più svariate occasioni. Per questo omaggio ho scelto, tra i miei preferiti, i migliori vini della varietà Boal invecchiati nei nostri magazzini negli ultimi 40 anni, con il metodo tradizionale Canteiro, ai quali ho aggiunto altri ancora molto più vecchi. Nel luglio 2018 sono state imbottigliate 739 unità, numerate individualmente.
