Attualmente chiuso, questo vino sembra condividere un carattere più simile al Trotanoy di qualsiasi altra annata recente che possa ricordare. Potente, strutturato, maschile, ma con una proposta a lungo termine, questo vino rubino/viola scuro mostra note di amarene caramellate, dolci e frutti selvatici con abbondanza di spezie, terra e un pizzico di erbaceo. Il vino ha tannini molto alti, concentrazione impressionante, ma quel livello di tannino che si sente in bocca... Questo è un Petrus che probabilmente andrebbe dimenticato per almeno 8-10 anni e bevuto nei prossimi due o tre decenni. Trovo sempre ironico che Petrus, che è praticamente al 100% Merlot, sia successivo alle prime crescite del Medoc, dominate dal Cabernet Sauvignon.
