Una vigna che supera gli 80 anni di età, con varie mancanze derivanti da un parziale abbandono per alcuni anni. In una zona di intensa esposizione e con enormi affioramenti di scisto in superficie dove nemmeno un'unica erba sopravvive. La gente della Quinta l'ha subito soprannominata "Vigna dell'Abbandonato". Per anni abbiamo cercato di recuperare la vigna e ripiantare le viti scomparse. Fino a quando non abbiamo desistito. Nonostante tutte le nostre cure, solo le ceppaie più vecchie erano in grado di sopravvivere in condizioni così estreme. Nel 2004 abbiamo deciso di isolarla per la prima volta nella cantina della Quinta da Gaivosa. Ha immediatamente rivelato una personalità e un carattere unici. Abbiamo deciso di imbottigliarlo in omaggio alle altrettanto uniche vecchie vigne del Douro, che un giorno scompariranno. Oggi le celebriamo.

Gli aromi di frutta matura includono ciliegie scure, more, cioccolato fondente, liquirizia, eucalipto, spezie esotiche, note balsamiche e dettagli minerali
