Si tratta di un autentico liquore scuro al ribes nero, ottenuto da un infuso di ribes nero originario di Digione, capoluogo della Borgogna, in Francia, dove il prodotto è stato inventato. Bols Crème de Cassis funziona particolarmente bene nel contenere elementi acidi (come il succo di limone o lime) ed è un'ottima aggiunta alle bevande contenenti frutta come fragole o lamponi. Viene utilizzato anche con vino bianco, champagne o vermuth secco.
