Nel 2019, la precipitazione non è stata solo bassa nei mesi invernali, ma si è estesa per tutto l'anno. Tuttavia, il Douro e, nel caso di Niepoort, la sotto-regione di Cima Corgo, hanno avuto fortuna grazie a due fattori compensativi: in primo luogo, i mesi estivi sono stati insolitamente freschi e, in secondo luogo, le precipitazioni tempestive nei giorni 26 e 27 agosto, oltre a qualche pioggia molto limitata nella terza settimana di settembre, si sono rivelate inestimabili. Di conseguenza, l'analisi dei mosti è stata molto equilibrata, con alti livelli di acidità, che hanno fornito freschezza e una magnifica eleganza. Nella cantina di Vale de Mendiz, la vendemmia è iniziata il 2 settembre in condizioni favorevoli e le ultime uve sono state ricevute nella prima settimana di ottobre. Il LBV viene imbottigliato nel quarto anno, mantenendo la tradizione di Niepoort di privilegiare al massimo la freschezza nei vini.
