Questo vino proviene dall'esclusiva regione di Quinta dos Pasmados, ad Azeitão. Nel 1998 è stata presa la straordinaria decisione di sostituire il vitigno Chardonnay con Viosinho, modificando anche l'origine di Arinto ed Esgana da terreni calcarei argillosi a terreni sabbiosi. Nel 2005, con l'obiettivo di migliorare la complessità del vino, è stata integrata la varietà Viognier coltivata nei nostri vigneti da oltre 40 anni. Intorno al 1999, l'enologo Domingos Soares Franco si è imbattuto, nelle cantine, diverse bottiglie di Pasmados Branco del 1963 in esposizione. un tono giallognolo che testimonia il suo naturale invecchiamento, l'aroma ha rivelato un'evoluzione, rimanendo fine, vellutato e sottilmente fruttato. Al palato si distingue per la sua piacevolezza e sorprendentemente ben strutturato, presentando una qualità eccezionale e una notevole acidità. Ispirato da questa scoperta, Domingos Soares Franco ha quindi deciso di testare la produzione di un Pasmados con potenziale di invecchiamento, prendendo come riferimento il 1963. I migliori raccolti vengono conservati in cantina, piccole quantità di bottiglie vengono vendute anni dopo con il nome quasi dimenticato di Garrafeira. Salvando anche la classifica di Garrafeira, è nato Pasmados Garrafeira.
