La Quinta das Carvalhas è una proprietà di grande bellezza e spettacolarità, con una posizione predominante sulla pendice della riva sinistra del Rio Douro a Pinhão, che si estende lungo le pendici della riva destra dell'affluente Rio Torto. Le più antiche riferimenti scritti sulla Quinta risalgono al 1759, con le sue magnifiche Vigne Vecchie, di impianto post-filocera, che raggiungono la rispettabile età di un secolo. Vinificazione della Quinta das Carvalhas Vinha do Eirol rosso: Dopo una vendemmia manuale di carattere chirurgico, le uve vengono trasportate in cantina in casse da 20 kg. Dopo essere passate attraverso una selezione manuale accurata, i grappoli vengono indirizzati verso un piccolo tino di rovere francese in cui solo il 30% dei grappoli viene diraspato e pigiato. Segue la fermentazione alcolica a 24-26ºC, con un leggero "pissage" e rimontaggi effettuati a secchio per cercare un'estrazione buona ma curata. Dopo la fermentazione alcolica, il vino termina la fermentazione malolattica e affina in botti e barriques usate di rovere francese.

Nella prova si presenta ampio e molto seducente, con sapori molto freschi e originali, suggerendo sfumature di bosco e frutti di bosco, con un finale molto intenso e persistente.
Al naso si presenta molto fresco ed espressivo, con sfumature di frutti rossi e agrumi, che si combinano armoniosamente con note vegetali e di erbe aromatiche.
