Le uve raccolte a mano sono state vinificate secondo il metodo tradizionale del Vino Porto. La fermentazione controllata dei mosti è avvenuta in vasche di acciaio inox ed è stata interrotta dall'aggiunta di acquavite di vino. I vini erano molto eleganti e con grande potenziale di invecchiamento. I vini che compongono il lotto finale di questo Porto Ferreira Dona Antónia Tawny 20 Anni rimangono nel Douro fino al trasporto alle cantine Ferreira a V.N.Gaia nella primavera successiva, entrando nel sistema di invecchiamento tradizionale del Vino Porto, in botti di rovere, con lo stile Porto Ferreira. Durante questo periodo, il vino è sottoposto a numerosi travasi, analisi e degustazioni, che permettono di seguire il suo invecchiamento e intervenire con aggiunte, rinfreschi e correzioni ogni volta che la degustazione lo richiede. Il lotto finale è ottenuto utilizzando vini con età comprese tra i 15 e i 40 anni, in modo da ottenere sempre con l'età media, il tipo, la qualità e lo stile del Porto Ferreira Dona Antónia Tawny 20 Anni.
