O Krohn 10 Anos è prodotto a partire da una selezione di vini di Porto provenienti dalle migliori vigne della Valle del Douro. I vini sono invecchiati in botti di legno di circa 630 litri di capacità, per una media di 10 anni. Queste botti di legno contengono un volume di vino più ridotto. In questo modo, il contatto del vino con il legno è proporzionalmente maggiore. Man mano che il vino invecchia nella botte, perde gradualmente il profondo colore rosso "rubino" della sua giovinezza e inizia ad acquisire la incantevole tonalità ambra, conosciuta in inglese come "tawny" (rossiccia). Allo stesso tempo, il vino diventa progressivamente più morbido e più vellutato, e i suoi aromi acquisiscono ricchezza e complessità.
