Il vigneto fu piantato nel XIII secolo. Nel 1305 divenne proprietà di Bertrand de Got, arcivescovo di Bordeaux. Nominato primo papa di Avignone con il nome di Clemente V, mantenne la proprietà e la chiamò "Pape Clément". Per più di sette secoli questo terroir di qualità eccezionali produce vini apprezzati per la loro eleganza e complessità. Sono serviti nei migliori ristoranti del mondo. La vendemmia è iniziata il 25 settembre 2015.
