La Real Companhia Velha è stata fondata il 10 settembre 1756 con Carta Reale del Re D. José I, sotto gli auspici del suo Primo Ministro, Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, Conte di Oeiras e Marchese de Pombal e da allora è stata fedele alla le sue antiche tradizioni, offrendo i migliori vini di Porto.
La Società possiede alcune delle migliori Quintas del Douro, situate nelle migliori zone della Regione. I Porti Bianchi provengono da Quinta do Casal da Granja dove il clima fresco è perfetto per la produzione di uve bianche. I Porto Rossi sono prodotti da appezzamenti piantati a Quinta das Carvalhas, Aciprestes e Síbio. I vecchi vigneti situati a Quinta das Carvalhas sono l'origine dei nostri Porti Premium come Vintages e Colheitas.
