Domingos Soares Franco decidió que era hora de evolucionar en el Moscatel de Setúbal. Entonces, inició 5 años de ensayos en los que, con uvas de la misma viña, hizo vino con 4 tipos de aguardientes diferentes: una neutra, otra de origen de la región de Cognac, otra de origen de la región de Armagnac y un cuarto lote con 50% de estas últimas. Tras 5 años de pruebas, prevaleció la de Armagnac, por su sutileza, frescura, complejidad y armonía.
