Fernão Favila Vieira nació en 1930 en Funchal y se licenció en la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Lisboa. Diplomático de profesión, desempeñó funciones en varios puntos del mundo habiendo sido condecorado como comendador de la Orden del Infante Don Henrique en el ámbito del desempeño de sus funciones. A lo largo de su vida, se dedicó también a actividades literarias, periodísticas y políticas. En el ejercicio de su profesión, Fernão Favila Vieira fue también un embajador privilegiado del Vino de Madeira, nunca dejando de servirlo y ofrecerlo en las más variadas ocasiones. Para este homenaje elegí, entre mis favoritos, los mejores vinos de la variedad Boal envejecidos en nuestros almacenes a lo largo de los últimos 40 años, por el método tradicional de Canteiro, a los cuales añadí otros aún mucho más viejos. En julio de 2018, se embotellaron 739 unidades, individualmente numeradas.
