En 2019, la precipitación no solo fue baja en los meses de invierno, sino que se extendió durante todo el año. Sin embargo, el Douro y, en el caso de Niepoort, la subregión de Cima Corgo, tuvieron suerte debido a dos factores compensatorios: en primer lugar, los meses de verano fueron inusualmente frescos y, en segundo lugar, la precipitación oportuna los días 26 y 27 de agosto, además de algo de lluvia muy limitada en la tercera semana de septiembre, resultaron invaluables. Como resultado, el análisis de los mostos fue muy equilibrado, con altos niveles de acidez, proporcionando frescura y una magnífica elegancia. En la bodega de Vale de Mendiz, la vendimia comenzó el 2 de septiembre bajo condiciones favorables y las últimas uvas se recibieron en la primera semana de octubre. El LBV se embotella en el cuarto año, manteniendo la tradición de Niepoort de privilegiar al máximo la frescura en los vinos.
