La historia de este Vino de Oporto se remonta a la vendimia de 1867 en la Quinta das Carvalhas, una de las propiedades más prominentes del Alto Douro que se destaca en el paisaje duriense por su belleza y por la espectacularidad de sus viñedos. Se trata, verdaderamente, de una recóndita memoria Viva del Siglo XIX preservada en el tiempo con meticuloso cuidado y casi religiosa devoción, inicialmente en las bodegas de la reputada firma Miguel Souza Guedes, y más tarde, a mediados del Siglo XX, por incorporación de esta empresa, dejada a los cuidados de las sucesivas generaciones de maestros de bodega de la Real Companhia Velha. Este Vino de Oporto prosiguió su largo y paciente envejecimiento en las suntuosas bodegas de Vila Nova de Gaia, en pipas de la más noble madera de roble, hasta alcanzar la perfección, destacándose una suntuosidad aromática y una inolvidable dimensión de prueba. Tras 149 años de crianza y en el año de las celebraciones de los 260 años de la fundación de esta Compañía Pombalina, el destino de este vino se cruza así con la historia de la empresa más emblemática de Vino de Oporto – La Real Companhia Velha – cuyo legado se confunde con la propia historia del Vino de Oporto.
