O Krohn 10 Años se produce a partir de una selección de vinos de Oporto con origen en las mejores viñas del Valle del Duero. Los vinos se envejecen en barricas de madera de aproximadamente 630 litros de capacidad, durante un promedio de 10 años. Estas barricas de madera contienen un volumen de vino más reducido. De esta forma, el contacto del vino con la madera es proporcionalmente mayor. A medida que el vino envejece en la barrica, va perdiendo gradualmente el profundo color rojo "rubí" de su juventud y comienza a adquirir la encantadora tonalidad ámbar, conocida en inglés como "tawny" (alojada). Al mismo tiempo, el vino se vuelve progresivamente más suave y más aterciopelado, y sus aromas adquieren riqueza y complejidad.
