El Whisky Nikka Coffey Malt es un whisky de malta único, destilado a partir de la malta en un alambique Coffey, y es uno de los componentes esenciales de los blends Nikka. El alambique Coffey fue así llamado en honor a su inventor, Aeneas Coffey. En 1830, el irlandés nacido en Francia perfeccionaría esta técnica, que se convertiría en ampliamente adoptada por los escoceses para la producción de blends, permitiéndoles superar a Irlanda como el productor de Whisky por excelencia. El proceso de destilación es continuo, mientras que en los alambiques utilizados para la producción de Single Malts se requieren dos destilaciones separadas. Nikka posee dos alambiques Coffey en su destilería Miyagikyo para la elaboración de sus whiskies de grano. Importados de Escocia en 1963, estos antiguos alambiques producen espirituosos muy redondos, con un carácter distintivo que define los blends de firma Nikka.
