Fue en Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo donde se llevó a cabo el primer estudio para la plantación monovarietal en la región del Duero. Entre 1979 y 1981, junto con el Ministerio de Agricultura Portugués, a través del Centro de Estudios Vitivinícolas del Duero, se eligieron en Quinta Nova las mejores exposiciones solares para el estudio de plantación de tres variedades: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional y Touriga Franca. La Parcela 28 de Quinta Nova plantada con la variedad Tinta Roriz, compuesta por 2650 cepas y una pendiente del 25%, se encuentra a una altitud entre 205 y 210 metros. Esta variedad demuestra bien el desafío vitivinícola y la persistencia humana en preservar un Duero antiguo y auténtico. La austeridad de la variedad es notable en boca, pero al mismo tiempo, somos seducidos por una sofisticación algo contemporánea que, unida a la viña centenaria (Parcela 21), origina un lote que revela una Referencia en el Duero portugués, un vino pleno de mineralidad, frutos azules, rico en notas especiadas con una estructura firme y un paladar bastante estrecho. La elevada concentración, la densidad y la profundidad expresan bien su origen. Producción: 3900 botellas.
