En el panorama vitivinícola nacional no hay productor más consensuado que Niepoort y la larga historia comienza en 1842 con la llegada del primer Van Der Niepoort a Portugal. Cuando se inició en el mercado del vino de Oporto como comerciante, rápidamente estableció su negocio, que resultaría próspero y de futuro. Así, en la 5ª generación nació Dirk Niepoort, un productor ineludible en el mundo del vino, reconocido como uno de los personajes más importantes que trabajó, y trabaja, a favor del vino portugués. Colaboró con varias decenas de productores, les ayudó a mejorar sus vinos y a entender sus viñedos, preparando también su legado con quienes siempre están creando vinos irreverentes. Hoy en día, Dirk Niepoort colabora en muchos otros proyectos, en prácticamente todas las regiones vitivinícolas nacionales y en algunas extranjeras.
