Nikka The Grain está compuesto por granos antiguos de Coffey y maltas Coffey de la destilería Nishinomiya, ahora cerrada, así como granos Coffey y maltas Coffey de Miyagikyo. Los toques finales se añaden con Barley Grain (cebada malteada y no malteada) y Barley Grain and Corn & Rye, todos destilados en alambiques de cobre en las destilerías Moji y Satsumatsukasa, que originalmente se especializaron en la producción de Shochu. Cada destilado fue cuidadosamente seleccionado de estos cuatro lugares. Embotellado con un 48% de contenido alcohólico, Nikka The Grain revela una textura cremosa y un paladar complejo de aromas complementarios.

Sabor rico y al mismo tiempo esbelto. Se sienten sabores de leche de almendra, coco, vainilla y regaliz. El final es suavemente condimentado revelando sabores de canela y jengibre.
Fresco y complejo. Al principio se siente el aroma a cera de abeja entrelazado suavemente con plantas aromáticas (verbena, manzanilla) y frutas frescas (piña, ciruela Mirabelle). Luego el aroma se extiende hacia la vainilla, ligeramente tostada, y un registro de granos más intenso.
