Es un auténtico licor oscuro de grosella negra, elaborado a partir de una infusión de grosellas negras originaria de Dijon, ciudad principal de Borgoña, Francia, donde se inventó el producto. Bols Crème de Cassis funciona especialmente bien al contener elementos ácidos (como jugo de limón o lima) y es una excelente adición a bebidas que contienen frutas como fresas o frambuesas. También se utiliza con vino blanco, champagne o vermuth seco.
