Fernão Favila Vieira nació en 1930 en Funchal y se licenció en la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Lisboa. Diplomático de profesión, sirvió en diversas partes del mundo y fue galardonado con la Orden del Infante Dom Henrique como parte de sus funciones. A lo largo de su vida se dedicó a actividades literarias, periodísticas y políticas. En el ejercicio de su profesión, Fernão Favila Vieira fue también un embajador privilegiado del vino de Madeira, nunca dejando de servirlo y ofrecerlo en las más variadas ocasiones. Para este homenaje elegí, entre mis favoritos, los mejores vinos de la variedad Boal envejecidos en nuestras bodegas durante los últimos 40 años, mediante el método tradicional Canteiro, a los que añadí otros incluso mucho más antiguos. En julio de 2018 se embotellaron 739 unidades, numeradas individualmente.
