La verdadera esencia de Bollinger se encuentra en el Special Cuvée. Este vino es conocido como "brut sin año", el estilo tradicional de champán, compuesto por lotes de vinos de cosechas de diferentes años. El nombre del emblemático champán de Bollinger, con su ortografía en inglés, encapsula toda su historia. Fue el agente británico de Georges Bollinger quien, en 1911, lo bautizó como "Special Cuvée", pues consideró que la expresión utilizada anteriormente no correspondía a un champán de tal sutileza. Más de un siglo después, el nombre del champán emblemático de la pericia de Bollinger aún encapsula toda su historia.
