The Marqués de Riscal Reserva wines are mainly made from grapes of tempranillo vines planted before the 1970s, grown in the best clay-limestone soils of Rioja Alavesa. This variety ages well in barrel and bottle, thanks to its good balance between acidity and fine tannins. The Graciano variety, whose presence in the blend does not exceed 10%, adds freshness and liveliness to the color. Fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature and the maceration time never exceeds 12 days. The Riscal reservas spend about two years in American oak barrels, producing a wine that corresponds to the classic Rioja style: fresh, fine, elegant, and very suitable for prolonged aging. Before being put on sale, the wine spends at least a year maturing in the bottle; enough time to show all the complexity that tempranillo can achieve.

Intense black cherry color, with good color depth.
Fresh and easy to drink on the palate, with a good structure and soft, polished tannins. The long and persistent finish leaves soft balsamic memories of the highest quality.
Very expressive aromas on the nose, with notes of licorice, cinnamon, and black pepper, with just a slight touch of long aging in barrel, thanks to its great complexity and concentrated ripe fruit.
