Description
Alión, whose name refers to the area of León where the patriarch of the Álvarez family was born, is located just 15 kilometers from the headquarters and in a very similar location, between the river Duero and the Valladolid motorway to Soria, close to the wine capital de Ribera, Peñafiel. The first vintage to reach the market, 1991, was made at the Vega Sicilia estate, but from 1993 the Alión brand had its own facilities after the acquisition and remodeling of Bodegas Liceo. The winery was remodeled again in 2001 to introduce wooden fermentation vats in accordance with the Tempos Vega Sicilia winemaking style.
