An opulent Petrus very much in the 1990s stylistic family, this 100% Merlot has a dense plum/purple color and a sweet nose of blackberries, black cherries, some subtle toast and licorice, as well as a floral element. A wine of great intensity, a multidimensional mouthfeel and a full-bodied and astonishing concentration, Chateau Petrus 2009 is everything you could expect from it. Given the sweetness of its tannin, very similar to the 1990, I suspect that this wine will always be "open for business", attractive even in its youth. Early maturity: 2016-2050+.
