Fleshy, plump, and already sensual, the dark plum/purple Petrus 2003 is exceptionally ripe and rich. Although not as exotic as its rival, Lafleur, it is rich, heady, and charged. A tour de force in viticulture for Pomerol, it avenges Christian Moueix's decision to harvest almost all of his Merlot on the 3rd and 4th of September, and the Cabernet Franc on the 17th of September. However, production is small... less than 1,700 cases. Full-bodied, powerful, and exceptionally pure without losing its nobility and elegance, this stunning Petrus can be consumed within 2-3 years or stored in the cellar for three decades.
