Croft LBV was developed to respond to the demand for a superior quality product that could be consumed immediately and daily, as an alternative to the range of Vintage Port wines. Unlike a typical Vintage Port, which is bottled just two years after aging in wood and finalizing its aging in the bottle, this LBV is bottled after four to six years of aging and can be consumed at the time of bottling. The wines used to blend the Croft LBV were taken from a reserve made up of some of the best full-bodied red Port wines, produced in that harvest, from grapes grown on the Croft property - Quinta da Roêda, as well as on other famous properties in the areas of Cima Corgo and Douro Superior. These wines were aged in wood and then blended after six years. The blending process ensured that the final wine was balanced and complete, as well as continuity in style with previous Croft LBVs.
