O Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial Tinto 2012 é um vinho tinto criado na sua própria vinha de 40 hectares, feita das variedades Tempranillo (81%) e Mazuelo (19%). As castas Tempranillo envelheceram durante 34 meses em barricas de carvalho americanas e as Mazuelo durante 34 meses em barricas de carvalho francesas. Segundo James Suckling, possui "notas de flores secas, cogumelos, ferro, ferrugem, frutas vermelhas doces e laranja grelhada," com um "corpo cheio, com taninos muito elegantes e refinados que derretem na boca e proporcionam uma verdadeira sensação de terroir e integridade." Para além disso, é "equilibrado e harmonioso", enquanto que "a finesse e o final são intermináveis."
