Akashi Single Malt 5 Years Red Wine Cask is a whisky produced by the Eigashima - White Oak distillery, located in the south of Japan, on the shores of the Seto Inland Sea. For this limited edition, the House's Chef Blender carefully selected some single malts aged for 4 and a half years in Cognac casks, then transferring them to French red wine casks for a maturation of 10 months. Akashi Single Malt 5 Years Red Wine Cask is bottled without coloring and without cold filtration, with an alcohol content of 50%. Relatively unknown, the White Oak distillery is, however, part of the history of Japanese whisky, being the first distillery in Japan to obtain a distillation license in 1888. However, it was only in 1919 that the discontinuous production of malt spirits began, and in 1984 a completely new facility dedicated to whisky production was established at the Eigashima site.
