The Malvasia Preta was planted at Quinta das Carvalhas in 2002, facing south. It is characterized by a small, compact bunch with small berries and a thin skin, which led us to believe that a fine, elegant wine with a strong Douro character would emerge. We were right! In order to preserve these characteristics, fermentation took place in small stainless steel tanks with skin contact, followed by an 8-month aging in used French oak barrels so as not to mask the varietal character of this spectacular grape variety.
