La distillerie Bruichladdich, fondée en 1881, est située sur l'île d'Islay, en Écosse, et est reconnue pour son approche innovante et son accent sur le terroir dans la production de whiskies. Le Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2012 est une expression non tourbée qui met en avant l'influence du terroir d'Islay, utilisant de l'orge cultivée dans huit fermes de l'île en 2011. Ce single malt a été distillé en 2012 et vieilli pendant 8 ans, étant mis en bouteille avec un taux d'alcool de 50 %.
