Une vigne de plus de 80 ans, avec plusieurs défauts dus à un abandon partiel pendant quelques années. Dans une zone d'exposition intense et avec d'énormes affleurements de schiste à la surface où même une seule herbe ne subsiste. Les gens de la Quinta l'ont rapidement surnommée "Vigne de l'Abandonné". Pendant des années, nous avons essayé de récupérer la vigne et de replanter les ceps disparus. Jusqu'à ce que nous abandonnions. Malgré tous nos soins, seules les vieilles souches étaient capables de survivre dans des conditions aussi extrêmes. En 2004, nous avons décidé de l'isoler pour la première fois dans la cave de la Quinta da Gaivosa. Elle a immédiatement révélé une personnalité et un caractère uniques. Nous avons décidé de la mettre en bouteille en hommage aux vieilles vignes tout aussi uniques du Douro, qui un jour disparaîtront. Aujourd'hui, nous les célébrons.
