Cuba também produz um rum mais leve e mais fresco do que noutras partes das Caraíbas, graças a um pedido da Coroa Espanhola, que preferia as suas bebidas espirituosas de sabor delicado. O rum Conde de Cuba é colhido, destilado, envelhecido e engarrafado numa pequena cidade com não mais de 2.000 habitantes da província de Las Tunas, em Amancio Rodriguez, no sudeste de Cuba, uma terra cujo clima é ideal para o cultivo da cana-de-açúcar 100% autóctone “medialuna”.
