Planted from 1877 on the bank of the Douro River on previously uncultivated land acquired from the Municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, Quinta do Vale Meão was the last major achievement of Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira - "Ferreirinha". Owned by his great-great-grandson Francisco Javier de Olazabal, today it comprises 98 hectares of vineyards planted on land of different geological origins: schist, granite and alluvial. Quinta do Vale Meão 2014 is composed of 55% Touriga Nacional, 35% Touriga Franca, 5% Touriga Barroca and 5% Tinta Roriz and was prepared by winemaker Francisco Olazabal.
